Probably the last Bike Fest in NTU I’ll attend. Not very fantastic this year though. No TP Bike, no host, no contest… Or did I miss them out?
MV Augusta and Goldwing were special appearances though. Thumbs up!!
Loving Bikes, ever.
They call those who ride STs STallions,
and they call those who ride Silver Wings SWingers…
Presenting to you, the Honda Silver Wing…
Yes… New Bike again. Why the change? More practical, 2 laptops under seat and 2 full-faces in the rear box isn’t a problem at all. Large windshield keeps me dry even in a light rain. More comfortable, both rider and pillion get a backrest and ample leg room. Smoother acceleration, much lesser vibrations than most Maxi-scooters… Yeah, the list can go on, less problematic, sufficient power, fuel efficient etc, just like all the good things you would say when you fall in love with something/someone…
Hope this is my last bike before I settle for a four-wheeler.
Being greeted "Happy Birthday" repeatedly through calls, SMSes, Whatsapp, Ebuddy/MSN, Facebook makes my Day!
Being greeted by a row of 15 Mercedes, ranging from E Class to S Class, from CLK to CLS, from SLs to SLS makes my Day too! Not leaving out the awesome Maseratis and Audis too!
Being greeted politely by professional MacDonalds staff makes my Day!
Harlies make me Happy too!
Called Holiday Inn Window on the Park to make a reservation for dinner. They gave me a slot for their buffet when they were fully booked, just because I said it’s my Birthday and I would like to have my celebration at their place!
Had a relaxed morning in a Mac somewhere in town, reading a novel, listening to nice music, occasionally checking my iPhone for Facebook Birthday wishes…
A very happy morning…
Lunch at a place I’ve not heard of… Food was nice!
I’m a Happy man.
Been to the BMW Motorshow on the last day.
Overall, the motors were awesome! Oh ya, no wonder they are called "Performance Motors"…
I was about to stride over to take a photo on one of the motorcycles… This "bouncer-like" usher came up to me and said in a stern tone:
"Sir, don’t touch the bike, sir.
If you drop it, you might not be able to pay for it."
For goodness sake, this is an INTERNATIONAL MOTORSHOW! All the cars can be sat in, but not the motorcycles? Or does he not know I have handled heavier bikes than BMW? Even Harlies can be sat on in their showroom! Moreover, I don’t see a "DO NOT SIT" sign on any of the motorcycles. Is BMW simply living up to their name "Performance MOTORS" and nothing else but their MOTORS?
The previous time I attended a BMW Roadshow at Millenia Walk (late last year in fact), I was warmly greeted by a part-timer, a 23/24 year old in fact, who explained the models and specifications to me politely and later rendered his helping hand in taking a few shots of me on the bikes.
Service matters, I don’t think I’ll ever buy my car from BMW.
As you all probably know, I’m a biker, not exactly hard-core, but definitely an enthusiast. I always wish to own a BMW GS1200.
Yes, it is much more dangerous than driving a car on the road. Yes, you would be caught in the rain/shine. But the thrill and excitement surpass all the above. This is of course, apart from the extreme convenience (as compared to 4 wheels) and cool looks (if a biker ever looks cool). It’s like drugs (not that I’ve tried
), you get hooked and it’s definitely hard to kick.
The following is quoted from: http://wellufoundme.blogspot.com/. I like the title of this blog: "there’s no shame in being crazy". Thank you Peipei for sharing the link!
I like the way he talks about bikes. A lot of bikers would probably feel for what he says too.
sometimes i forget how fortunate i am. its easy to want something, and even easier if your financial background can handle it. life becomes an endless cycle of wanting something better. but better in what sense – thats the question that we ourselves cant justify sometimes.
sucks that the biggest weakness of mine happens to be almost anything that has two wheels and require you to pay road tax. to people who dont bike, all bikes look the same. once you get into it, the whole list of wants and desires is tremendously deep. there are as many kinds of bikes as there are iphone case manufacturers. which is a lot. put in short, bike licenses are broken into three classes: 2B which is < 200cc, 2A which is anything between 201 and 400c, and finally 2, being > 400cc. the law requires you to wait a year between attempting each class. which is good, because if there wasnt the initiative, a LOT of young people would be getting killed on deathtraps they rushed to get and cant even handle.
a bike license is easier to obtain than a car license – huge myth.
a bike never has to pay for parking anywhere – myth.
a bike never needs to be washed – myth.
bikers wear jackets just to look cool – myth. it gets bloody cold when its just you and the wind blasting at you. even at 60km/h.
all bikes are cheap – myth. firsthand prices are anything from $5000 – $50,000.
all bikers smoke – myth. look at me.
petrol savings are huge compared to a car – truth. each litre gets you around 25km of mileage. cars are roughly at 14-16. but do correct me if i’m wrong.
bikes are never affected by traffic jams – myth. blast between two walls of cars at normal speed and prepare to die from people who change lanes without checking.
its a beautiful thing to be able to ride. i embrace my biker persona to the fullest.

A new cool Silverwing. Now it looks better. It’s probably the best maxi-scooter on Earth now.
Have long heard of this legendary bike. Rode for years, but never met one. Finally, had the honour to park beside one today. The engine is magnificent! This bike is rarer than a Harley! It has an engine similar to the Goldwing! The horsepower is mind-blowing! The exhausts are crazy-looking!
Cool HOT Stuff!
Came to find out that Bumble Bee, which I’ve bought about a month ago, has damage steering cone and bearings. And the speedometer died while I was riding last week, meaning it would stay at 0 even if I’m travelling at high speeds.
Found a decent place for repair after searching through the bike forum. Kallang Cycle, located at Kallang Ave, just opposite Lim Ah Boy’s workshop.
Took the mechanic a few hours to get the job done. Nice and professional mechanic, with a decent charge of $200+. Feels good to ride my Bumble Bee with things working fine!
And I came to realise too that the owner of this shop is a famous veteran mechanic, who was one of the top racers in the past. He was also one of the pioneer mechanics who learnt the art of repairing Ducatis from Italy. Here were some of the Ducatis in the same shop:
I’m learning more about bikes constantly. I’m falling in love with bikes repeatedly.

I wana ride a BMW GS1150!
What a magnificent tourer! The Honda Goldwing GL1800! Thank you Jing Song for tagging! Reminds me of the good old days when we parked our Phantoms and KTM in front of B Coy.
Having ridden the Honda Pan Euro ST1100, my next dream tourer shall be the Honda Gold Wing GL1800! Lots of storage space, lots of modification-space! Extreme comfort! This is an AWESOME bike!
I can ride a big bike, but not like them. Perhaps I can consider joining the Traffic Police. Wahaha.
After riding 7 bikes, I realised the Scooter, the Maxi-scooter is my favourite. It’s the one with greatest practicality, from comfort to fuel consumption, from storage space to handling, it probably beats all bikes.
The under-seat storage usually allows 2 helmets, groceries and goods can easily find place in it. The auto-transmission prevents jerks or lags between transition of gears, desired by both rider and pillion. The large seats make long distance riding comfortable.
I’ve decided to get one of the following after selling off BBB and Baby King. The next headache will be which of the following to choose from. Till then, I shall concentrate on getting my bikes sold.
Scooter-ing… An Adventure Awaits.
The Suzuki GSR 600, also called the Baby King is awesome! It is like the Baby version of the BKing. Rode it today, one word to describe it: ORGASMIC!
BKing:

The New Bike, Baby King:
The acceleration of Baby King beats Xiao Hong. It is probably faster than a WRX/Evo/Lambor. Not just fast, it’s FREAKING FAST!
And the Yoshimura Tri-oval exhausts sound superb! Fell in love with it the first time I heard it.
Digital speedo and gear indicator, rims lining and underseat exhausts, LED Ring head-light and integrated signal lights… Simply ORGASMIC!

Got 小黑,got 大黑, of course got 中黑!
Introducing the Suzuki GSR600!!!
Rode the bike, so fast I felt like I’m gonna be thrown off anytime. The acceleration is exhilarating, breath-taking, astonishing, amazing! (Way above 小红)
The meters are digital! Digital displays of speed, fuel consumption and even gear indicator! Turn on the ignition, and the RPM meter runs to the max and come back to 0, so cool!
The design is sleek and the styling is conceptual. 后现代的设计,融合新一代的技术,全都体现于这不可思议的 GSR600.
The exhausts are Yoshimura Tri-Oval! Damn, not only has the “purring” transformed to “roaring”, it has evolved to “ROARING!!!”
Presenting the Legend:
This is Weili’s dream bike. Damn, this is good taste. I didn’t understand what an experience riding can give until I rode this.

Had been waking up early this week to study. Woke up slightly later today after yesterday’s HC303 Paper.
干妈 treated us to 同乐!Yummy yummy brunch!
We were their first customers!
Seemed like we booked the whole place!
We were quite amused by their workout, probably some daily cohesion to get the day started, reminds me of some Japan company I studied in Social Studies back in Secondary school.

Even when I see more females riding bikes nowadays, I’m still always amazed, astonished to see them, especially if they ride BIG bikes.
Saw one not too long ago on a DRZ, another on a Red Fazer. This evening, 1 on an R6! This Kitty Bike of hers reminded me of another Kitty Bike I saw long ago. I wonder if she’s the same rider of both bikes.

If I can sell BBB by this weekend, I might buy this:

I’ve rode cruisers, choppers, scooters, street/naked bikes, tourers and even scramblers. I wana give sports bike a try. This colour, this model…
A few of these are on sale, another colour I’m looking at:
This will be the fastest bike I’ll have ridden if I buy it.
09 Nov 09
Had lunch with Rabbit at Xin Wang Taiwan!
Came across a BMW roadshow around the area. The cars don’t look appealing, you get to see them everyday. However, the new bike models were astonishing. Big but light (lighter than BBB), easy to control, traction control, ABS, digital information monitors etc. Had a chat with this sales guy who is only 22! He has already owned more bikes than me! Learnt a fair bit from him. BMW bikes rock!
These are neither Tourers nor Scramblers, they are called Enduros. Cool man!
Brought BBB for some major servicing. Carburetor washing & tuning, changing of needle valves, spark plugs etc…
Saw lots of Hayabusas at the shop I was servicing… I would ride a Hayabusa or R1, if not for budget and other reasons…
Hamsters in a car-t at a random pet shop…

Pump @ Malaysia! I was so damn damn heng, the bike went totally out of fuel exactly at the moment I reached the Malaysia petrol kiosk. Had I run out of petrol earlier, I’ll be crying!
Dropped the bike at the petrol kiosk. Luckily 2 nice Singaporean bikers came to my rescue. BBB is really quite tall and big for me to handle. I’m considering B’s smiles.

小红 – my best serving bike thus far, the bike that brought me thrill and fun, the bike that has been thru thick & thin with me, the bike that brought me happiness – is gone.
小红 will always be remembered, a 400cc that has done 170km/h with pillion.

I once had Impulse, 小黑,now I have a Pan European, 大黑,a.k.a BIG BLACK BIKE.
BBB is 1100cc. BBB is heavy. BBB flies above 200km/h. BBB has lots of storage space. BBB is ultra-comfortable. BBB is smooth and quiet. BBB can tour!
What a BIG BLACK BIKE!
BBB will be undergoing a refurbishment, a new paintwork, with re-wrapped seats.
Expected Date of Completion: 22 Oct 09
Here’s the start of public transport life. I need to check out the SBS & MRT services.
Pretty cool, you don’t fall over or get wet like on a bike. You can travel fast too. Looks too big to squeeze thru traffic though.

Good Bye Xiao Hong. Will miss you dearly.
Last Fri, I was rushing for a home visit from school after lessons. It was in the evening, and I was riding along PIE, squeezing in between vehicles, like what all motorcyclists do.
This bike right in front of me was doing a maneuver, he hit the bike just in front of him. Both lost control I think. I could hear the screeching of one bike on the road. Most of the vehicles were stationary. This stationary trailer started moving, it went up and down with a slam. I couldn’t see what it went over, I was hoping it’s the bike.
Today, while riding back along the same route, I saw this "Fatal Accident" sign erected there, displaying same time and place as everything had happened. I guess the trailer crushed him.
I didn’t see any numbers, don’t remember what colour or model the bikes are, don’t recall what cars were there. Everything happened so fast, so chaotic. I had to ride on to prevent a further collision with the rest behind me.
I hope the eye-witnesses, the car driver who saw everything happening in front of him can stand out and do justice to the victim. I feel very stirred, I can’t describe how I’m feeling. I’m just so fortunate. Thank you to the Shoten Zenjin. I could have been dead by now.
I’ll constantly remind myself to ride safely. Any motorcyclist reading this, or if any of your kin rides a motorbike, please tell them to ride safe, tell them real incidents. I hate seeing motorcycle accidents.
NMHRGK.
If you want something, go get it! Chances don’t wait. I’ve been looking thru the Singapore Bikes’ Forum. Have been wanting a Tourer for some time. I LOVE BIG BIKES!!! The BMW F650GS has been bought. And the Honda VFR 800 is reserved. $6.5k nia! Argh!
This leaves me with the Honda ST1100 and the Kawasaki Concours 1000. $6.5k and $4k respectively. Affordable but pretty big. Pretty much like the white beauty but I expect difficulty in handling such a gigantic monster and squeezing should be tough. Contemplating… Hesistating… Considering… Pondering…

The above is one of my Dream Bikes. Love it to the max!

Woke up at 0630, rushed to NTU to meet up with the Ryders’ Club, headed to 2nd link. The programme pretty much followed the above schedule. Left before seafood dinner because I had Lynette’s party to attend.
Rode with Moto V, a riding club for the trip. Travelled 700km today in total, that’s like the distance I travel in a week in Singapore! Moto V is a touring club, they have big big bikes, mostly tourers. Xiao Hong is one of the smallest bikes there. We rode in a convoy of Harlies, BMWs, Gold Wings, VFRs, Hornets, CBR1000RR, Triumph, Pan Euro, Ducati and many many other BIG bikes. 120km/h was considered a little slow actually. There were riders that went steady at 170-180km/h through out and occasionally exceeding 200km/h.
Here are the bikes!
Ducatis:
Harlies:
Yamaha Fazers:
Triumph Street Triple:
Honda CBR1000RRs:
Honda VFRs:
Honda CBF:
Honda Hornet:
Honda STX13 Pan European:
Suzuki GSXR1000:

Some snap shots:
These 2 Ang Mohs came from Germany! They ride the 1098 and BMW 800ST! I actually met the yellow Ang Moh at the airport before and commented on his beautiful BMW. And they are holding Ang Moh Liu Lian in their hands!
Overall, it was a tiring, but enjoyable and enriching trip. Learnt more about bikes again! The next time I go touring, I’ll get a Tourer. Xiao Hong is not big and comfortable enough for touring.
Presenting the Honda Forza!
The Forza is a 250cc Maxi Scooter. It is not a motorcycle, nor is it a plain scooter (Vespa).
I’ve been considering the change for a week… Reasons for change:
1. Extreme comfort: As seen from the photo, the seats are so huge! For both rider and pillion, the nicely wrapped cushions simply pamper our butts!
2. Large storage compartments: Apart from the box at the back, the seat can be lifted up and goods (laptop, helmet, groceries) can be stored underneath without any compromise of space! And there are small compartments at the front of the bike too!
3. Ease in travelling: Unlike a motorcylcle which is manual, a twist on the throttle of the Maxi-Scoot allows continuous acceleration. No manual change of gears, easy on the hands and no transition jerks for the pillion!
4. Easy maintenance: Xiao Hong needs 4 Spark Plugs and 3+ Bottles of Engine Oil, Xiao Hui needs 1/4 of that!
5. Little turbulence: The streamline design of the Maxi-Scoot makes cutting thru air easy, and there’re vents to channel the air along the bike. Also, the huge windshield shields away large amount of turbulence from the wind, which makes travelling much quieter.
6. Fuel efficient: It certainly drinks lesser than Xiao Hong. Estimated 24km/l, Xiao Hong does at best 20km/l.
7. Styling: Few Bikes look as appealing as the Forza. The shape and curves certainly beat most Scooters. The headlights certainly look like a pair of fierce-looking eyes at night.
8. Cheaper Insurance and Road Tax: A smaller cc bike implies cheaper Insurance and Road Tax compared to Xiao Hong.
9. Lower Top Speed: Restricts the speed of a speed demon like me. Safer and less likely to be caught by a Camera.
10. Low Centre of Gravity: Low CG implies more stability.
The only few reasons for no change are:
1. I’ve spent so much on Xiao Hong.
2. Xiao Hong gives me the power and speed I want any time. The power reduction of Xiao Hui might bore me to death.
3. We have gan qing for Xiao Hong.
Xiao Hui costs $2.8k.
Change / No Change?
If anyone loves Xiao Hong more than or as much as me, it must be Ah Long. If anyone shares the same passion for bikes and understand the bike language I speak, it still is Ah Long.
So after Arcadia, me and Ah Long went to join NTU Ryders’ Club for Supper Hop! Met at Cine Car Park, caught this huge Porsche:
After most of us arrived, we set off. 1st stop: Rochor Tao Hway! 2nd stop: KTM Railway station. Food was not bad.
Had a little comparison over our licenses. Had a great laugh.
Among us, there was this Uncle who rode an FJR. Ah Long was so excited to sit on it, so we requested that Uncle to take her to our next stop. Ah Long simply called her 干爹 and sat on this bike to our next destination, Bedok Market. She took lots of photos while on her 干爹’s bike!
Had some food at Bedok… and borrowed a stylo helmet to take photo with.
And the highlight of the evening was this! An owner of a Red Yamaha FZ6S from the Club let me rode his bike! Not just that, Ah Long was so excited and wanted to come on too. So we both went for a test ride and we both love it a lot! Moreover, it’s RED!!!!
And the higher-light was not just that! Ah Long’s 干爹 willingly passed me this key to his FJR! He told me to take it for a spin!!! I didn’t even ask for that! Xiao Hong is a 400cc, and Da Hong, the name we called this FZ6S, is 600cc. It was superb enough. Guess what, the FJR is 1300cc!!! That’s like WOW WOW!!!! So we took it out! The experience was astonishing!!! 160km/h in a couple of seconds and we didn’t even feel it was that fast because it’s so smooth and quiet! Of course, 160km/h is nothing for the FJR, it can simply hit 260km/h! Here’s some photos of the FZ6S and FJR!
Yamaha FZ-6-S:
Yamaha FJR 1300:
Never had I rode such a big bike in my life. It’s heavy of course, and thus stable, very stable. Got back to Xiao Hong, and felt the under-power. The test rides made my backside itchy in getting a bigger bike. For power, stability, safety and comfort… The FZ6S! Wahaha…
The Club went on for Jalan Kayu and Malaysia, we left since it wasn’t early and we weren’t too far from home. An unforgettable experience.
Oops, it’s late, I shall get to sleep now!
Xiao Hong has always been reliable.
Xiao Hong gives me the power and speed I need.
Xiao Hong is very well-liked by her pillions.
Xiao Hong makes me feel good.
Recently though, Xiao Hong has been giving me problems. Perhaps she has contracted some Bike Flu. Although she’s getting on age, she’s still considered young and trustworthy compared to other bikes.
Mechanical and Electrical maintenance cost for Xiao Hong shouldn’t be high, but it has gone as high as maintaining a car in recent months.
Should I part with Xiao Hong? *Dilemma*
Took a nap at Weili’s place.
Went back to school to study for HC202 with C**********e. We studied for a while and we went shopping. Yeap, there’s exam tmr, it’s a core module tmr, but we just wana shop. C**********e can really shop. This time, I didn’t buy anything, nothing really caught me, but C**********e bought pretty much.
Wanted to buy something for Ah Long actually, but somehow can’t make a decision, and there seem to be better deals elsewhere, so we gave up the idea.
Specially took photos of this bike again, for Ah Long!
If you realised, it’s parked in lot 23, and the no. on the dustbin in the background is also 23! The Aprilla RS 125 (yellow) in the previous post was also parked in lot 23! & I only realised this coincidence now! My favourite number! =)
Took some photos of other cool bikes. The 1st is a Moto Guzzi! Damn! It’s so rare to see one in Singapore lah! More rare than a Ducati or Harley! The pipes & exhaust are a killer! Enough for me to smoke thru tmr’s 202 paper.
Met up with H**** for dinner/supper. Have been forgetting my meal times for the past few days. Nice prata. Yum yum.
Disappointed Weili by coming home instead of going to his place for the night. He said he had a surprise installed for me. I wonder if it’s a surprise since he already told me about the "surprise”.
Anw, came home. And Ah Long sent me this:
“三道题分数的分布是25、15和60。第一道题是命题作文,第二道题是一道简答题,主要是给同学们一道从未处理过的问题,而同学们得把在这门课所学习过的知识加以综合起来,给出答案。最后一道题是要求同学们具体地以课堂上学习过的论文说明几段关于如何写作论文的话。”
I’m in shit, ain’t I? Haha, it’s my last paper. I shall take it easy man! 14 hours to freedom!
I can start fulfilling my wish list! Lalala! & yea, I’m gonna havoc!
As we were saying… I dated dear H**** for a movie! So off I went to get the tickets, just in case the cinema gets too packed on a weekend. Dropped by CCK to run an errand too. =P
Since I was in the west and there’s still time, I decided to give dear Weili a surprise! He was complaining how bored and lonely he was. But guess what! He wasn’t at home when he claimed he was! Left him a note. Wahaha…
Off I went to meet H****. Was riding on PIE, and this constant knocking sound surfaced. It became louder and louder and LOUDER! Stopped by the shoulder to check things out a couple of times but it seemed ok. Was guessing it’s the chain and thinking of settling it tmr, shall meet H**** 1st. Continued riding, but it got really really loud. And soon it wen KRANG KRENG KRONG KRING! I stopped by the side, Xiao Hong fainted for the 1st time! The chain snapped! I was in a frantic, 15 min more to movie and I had agree to meet H**** earlier. W/o a chain, a bike cannot transmit drive to the wheels, which means you don’t have to ride it anymore! Never in my riding life did any of my bikes break down! And Xiao Hong is said to be the most reliable of them all! *Sobx* Called SOS, my dearest Weili (and he still claimed that he’s home), he came to my rescue! He got me to my destination just on time!!! Thank you so much Weili!
Heng ah, if I left a little later, Weili couldn’t have rescued me in time.
Heng ah, Weili wasn’t real busy and he came to my rescue immediately!
Left Xiao Hong on the expressway, met up with H****. We went for “Sniper”! Check this out!
I’m in no position to comment if the movie is good, because I naturally thought it was, probably due to company. =P
Dear H**** got me some very nice strawberries from Mos Burger. It’s really nice of her, that cheered me up a lot. In fact, H**** always cheers me up.
Got in contact with Bikebulance. Sounds cool rite? You’re right, it’s Bike’s Ambulance! What an awesome name! They are a 24 hour towing service for bikes. Bikebulance was nice enough to come and pick me up and then go pick Xiao Hong. H**** was nicer, she waited with me till Bikebulance arrived. Bidded good bye to her and we went back to PIE to hunt for Xiao Hong. The people in the van were like telling me it’s my lucky day. That’s because the van is new and normally this van is used to pick up big bikes like Harlies. My kind of bike deserves a lorry to pick up. Xiao Hong is lucky de mah… Haha… And I heard LTA/EMAS could have towed my bike away if left there for too long. Heng ah, we got back there and Xiao Hong stood where I left her!
Xiao Hong boarded Bikebulance:
And soon we were at this motortiam that fortunately was still open! Bike shops normally close around 7pm, it was like 10+ and they were still open, some more it’s Saturday night leh! Was so happy that I can get things fixed before tmr!
Took photos of some cool bikes:
The motortiam uncles were nice enough to extend their working hours to treat Xiao Hong. I was their last customer. Since Xiao Hong’s rear tire was balding, I got it changed too.
Spent a few hundreds, but Xiao Hong now rides smooth and grips the road well. It’s so quiet and smooth riding her now I don’t even feel I’m travelling fast.
Was super hungry, haven’t had dinner. Since the bike shop was at BB, asked Rabbit out for supper. Rabbit is very nice to be with! Took random photos:
One of my dream bikes and one of my dream cars:
What a day! A day of different experience. Interesting though. =P
By right have 4 tuitions today. Darrence cancelled in the morning. Went for Sarish’s. Nico cancelled in the afternoon. I cancelled Clarence’s in the evening. Didn’t feel like teaching so much today.
Was talking to H in the afternoon. My mood was actually quite bad, but she cheered me up! She’s always so good at making people feel better, at least for me! =) It’s so nice to know her! Now I don’t feel as stressed to prepare for my S/Ued Biz Finance! Lalala!
Mum pissed me off in the morning. Didn’t want to go home since Papa went fishing. So went to hang around in Compass Point alone. Saw some very nice bikes at the bike park, took these photos:
Suzuki GSXR 600:
Yamaha R1:
Piaggio MP3:
Suzuki GSXR1300 Hayabusa:
Honda Gold Wing 1800:
Dated H**** for shopping in the evening. But in the end we agreed on a movie instead.
(To be continued…)
The whole freaking day, I was down.
Miss H made my evening. She made me smile. Thanks so much H! =D
If you are close enough to me, you would have known the Blue Neon Lights on my Xiao Hong were fused / damaged / “kaboomed” (or whatever you call it) for some time le. And it has affected my mood a little for the past few weeks.
I was searching Singapore’s Bike Forum for weeks for the guy who did the lights for me. But apparently, he’s no longer in the line, I was upset.
Just like the feeling I got when Weili found the wallet he lost, I got the same feeling when I found his number online again! Just today, on the forum, he posted a sale of 2 of his helmets. And I got in contact with him.
11pm, I set off for his place at Yishun to get my Blue Neon done up. Freak man! It’s finally done up again! I’ll cherish my Blue Lights a lot de. and his FF helmet, which was pretty similar to mine fits me just nice! I like it, I bought it. Now I got couple helmets!

On the way home, this “Zhng-ed” Honda Civic raced me, probably because my Blue Lights make me look like I wana “jio” fight.
FOR THE 1ST TIME IN MY RIDING LIFE, A CAR DARES TO RACE ME!
Damn it, someone actually dare to race me! Not a bike, but a god damn car! I didn’t expect that race to be fierce, but it was, fiercer than the one Ah Long & me had with the small White SP.
扮演片段:事发当时 (forget it, let’s type in English) , we were at a junction. His car was behind me. Soon after I picked up, I could see that car slicing fast to my left from my mirrors. Soon, I heard that “immature purr” of his engine. 我太看不起他了!I wasn’t whacking full force because I thought a car’s acceleration can never match a bike’s. I was wrong! He was on par with me. Knowing I can push for more, I unleashed the dragons & tigers & scorpions & rabbits (wahaha, just felt like using weird animals) beneath Xiao Hong’s belly. Soon I was leading by just a little, but we came to another red light.

Ding! Green Light! FULL FORCE I WENT! Damn, how would that guy give up! FULL FORCE HE WENT! Damn Damn Damn, I finally met a competitor! Probably because it’s 1am and the roads were clear, this car was no more than 5 metres behind Xiao Hong. All I can say is we were on par. 1st time a car is on par with Xiao Hong!
I don’t doubt my skills in beating him. I don’t doubt Xiao Hong’s ability to win me another “medal”. But! I was afraid that guy will resort to bad behaviour. He was so aggressive. I decided to end the race, I don’t want to be hurt by his car, neither do I want Xiao Hong to get injured. I braked. He zoomed past, and braked too! He seemed so determined to race me on. I dunno if he was showing me some signs to race on or some nasty signs, I continued slowing down. I took a different route home.
I definitely love rides at night, be it leisure touring or aggressive racing. So free, so cool. Now that Xiao Hong is done up, I’ll not let go until a worthy FZ6 appears.
Love you Xiao Hong. =)
I’ve been wanting to get one of these, the Fazer (FZ) 600 Viewed 1 so far, but it wasn’t too good. I’m pretty sure I’ll get a bigger bike than Xiao Hong, this is one of my top choices.
Presenting the FZ6S (Sport):
& the FZ1N (Naked):
Key:
FZ = Fazer (Yamaha), 1 = 1000cc, 6 = 600cc, S = Sport, N = Naked
Here’s a cool video introduction to the new models of the Harley Davidson:
There are several manufacturers of motorcycles around the world. The BMW for one, builds performance driven motorcycles for years. Japan-made Honda, Kawasaki, and Yamaha also have race winning motorcycles. Ducati is another motorcycle brand that is very popular around the world. But why a Harley Davidson?
Was talking a little about bikes with someone. She said “David Harleyson” and it took us a while to realise it’s “Harley Davidson”! Had a little laugh.
Harlies are great stuff. You’re not just buying a bike, you’re buying lifestyle. Here’s a short history of Harley Davidson:
In 1901, the 21 year-old William S. Harley had created the blueprint of an engine that was designed to fit in a conventional bicycle. Two years later, William together with his friend Arthur Davidson started and developed a one-cylinder engine that was installed on a conventional bicycle during that time. However, this motorized-bicycle was proved to be incapable of climbing through the Milwaukee hills without pedal assistance. Harley and Davidson developed further their motor after that experience.
Have been riding for a while.
Here are my past bikes for our viewing pleasure:
(The Chinese names were given by the only pillion who has sat on all 5 of them.)

What’s next? Difficult decision.
Dozed off in front of my laptop 1+, 2am…
Woke up at 830, went back to bed. Woke up at 1030.
Tuition at 7pm. Sending Yumi off after that.
Friday, alone. Listening to my series of nice emo songs.
Gonna view a bike later at Sembawang Country Club, 5pm. The FZ-6-S. Decided on this bike because I don’t wana upgrade to 1000cc that fast. Insurance is pretty ex for Racers and Big Bikes too. It’s probably doesn’t look as cool as sports bike, but the FZ-6-S gives me more power than my Super 4, about 50% more ba. and its exhausts are underneath the seat! 2! not 1! The pillion will almost never be burnt! If I wana’ go touring with this Fazer 6, it should be a breeze too. For daily commuting and long distance travelling, this bike should be ideal for the next year. =D
Here:
Why bike, not car?
Why keep changing bikes?
Dear Mei asked if I’m saving up to buy a car instead… I’m actually quite tempted to buy a small car. Considering cost, I’ll choose a bike. Weighing security and thrill/fun/convenience, I’ll choose a bike. The only attraction of a car to me now is security.
I wana live my youth man. Riding a bike gives me life, and I wana ride the BIGGEST BIKES! Changing because I wana ride all sorts of bikes! I probably will ride a CBR or Tourer or even Scrambler when I’m still young. Cars give me little thrill.
Someone just made my day! You know who you are!
I’m going shopping!

I told many people I have a test and quiz today, but only 2 know that the test is a Riding Test, Class 2, the one that allows you to ride all bikes!
Bike license is unlike car’s. You need a 3A for an Auto, a 3 for a manual. For bikes, it’s like that:
Class 2B: <200cc, min. 18 years old
Class 2A: 201-400cc, min. 19 years old
Class 2: >400cc, min. 20 years old
In between each class, you need at least a year before you’re eligible to apply for lessons of the next class.
Weili has wished me good luck many times for my test. He’s so sweet. and J*****n and H****n wished me good luck over MSN too, not knowing it’s a riding test. Wahaha. Pei pei was very sweet too, she texted me from Taiwan at 2.30am!
“hello melvin! this is taiwan peipei speaking to you! just wanna cheer you up with a lil message, and assure you that everything will be fine! smile!”
Slept late last night, and that garlic prata made my tummy upset. Was woken up by the sweetest SMS I’ve gotten in a long long time, I was touched. I actually set my alarm at 6.30am, the SMS came at 6.24am, it reads:
“morning frog prince! all the best for ur test & quiz! i’m sure it’ll be a breeze for u (: will be awaiting good news!”
I dunno if this person specially woke up to SMS that, but I really appreciated that. Thank you! I thought to myself: “Victory is when I know I’ve won the battle even before entering it.” I felt passing or failing my riding test is secondary, because even if I fail, I’m not defeated.
I haven’t been waking up so early for a long time. Reached CDC at 715am, the sun was rising in the sky. Warmed up. Waited very long for the testers to arrive (they always 耍大牌). and when they finally arrived, it started drizzling. Did the test in the rain.
This is the bike we use in CDC for Class 2, the Yamaha Fazer 600:
With all the sweetest wishings from the above mentioned people, I used a 平常心 to take the test. I wasn’t very confident because I did not book any practice lessons for today’s test, and the previous time I rode this bike was more than a month back. Anw, I was so happy I got my favourite No. 23 as my test tag!
Among 80 testees, there were only 3 gals. There was this pretty girl that’s only 20 years old, 1988 de, she was taking Class 2 test too! Amazing man. She doesn’t ride a bike outside, and she says there’s no point riding small bikes. So she waited 2 years and take her Class 2, she says she wana ride the biggest class bikes, why play with toys when you can handle machines. She plans to get a Ducati Monster 696. That’s like WOW! She actually failed the evaluation 6 times and passed on the 7th prior to taking today’s test. I admire her man. Unfortunately, she failed.
Ducati Monster 696:
I passed! Here’s the results:
I receive mails from NTU Ryders’ Club every now on then. A few days back, I received a mail on their booth that will be up today at Can A.
My Wednesdays are packed this Sem. Lectures from 0830 to 1800hrs, 1 hour break in btwn from 1230-1330. That was my only chance to visit the booth. I was eagerly anticipating for 1230 the whole day. Of course, I was there.
Hey, you know, bikes are good stuff. I never thought I would learn riding all along. I always thought I’ll never ride a bike, I’ll drive a car. I always thought it’s so freaking dangerous.
The thrill and excitement on a bike surpasses any other feeling on cars. That’s not the main idea of riding though. It’s about a feeling you get from it. It’s like falling in love with the roars of the engine, the wind brushing against your skin, the pull-off from stationary, the freedom… If you’ve sat on my bike, you probably know what I’m saying. It’s either you feel it or you don’t.
You don’t learn or favour bikes probably because it’s dangerous, probably because your parents discourage or disapprove you learning riding. Or perhaps you dislike the idea of getting drenched in the rain. All these are just minor trade-offs of the superb experience you get on a bike. You get a whole lot more of benefits. Excluding the fact that people may think you’re cool, the ease of squeezing through cars and always being No.1, the thrill and excitement and freedom feel, the cheap cost and maintenance, the time you save on travelling, the ownership of your vehicle, the convenience of going out anytime (bikes have no red-plates) etc are so much more worthwhile!
I learnt biking w/o my parents’ knowledge, bought my 1st bike for a couple of months before they discovered it when they saw my letter from LTA informing me to renew my road tax. It’s not about lying to your parents or doing things behind their backs. It’s about doing things you like, but taking responsibility of your actions. If you like it, do it, as long as you can, are willing to take full responsibility of what you do and don’t jeopardise others. Learn riding if you want, you’ll regret if you don’t in future. Ride safely and responsibly, take care of your pillion, gain the trust of people around you. Of course, people around you especially your parents will worry, you have to earn that trust from them.
PS: You may still have different opinions from mine, it’s ok. You don’t have to tell me, I’m just sharing my view on riding.
Here’s some cool clips:
To a non-biker, bikes are probably just bikes. But in fact, bikes are divided into many categories. Here’s a handy guide to understanding different types of bikes:
Retros
Retros are typically large-engined, unfaired brutes with not a great deal of ground clearance. They do, however, offer a comfortable riding position, so long as you don’t want to do hundreds of miles at 100mph plus. Some say retros are just parts-bin specials: unwanted engines slung into bendy frames with half-decent suspension.
To that we say poo poo, because although it may be true, retros are far better than the sum of their parts. Big wide bars and large seats make them great in town and for fast-ish sunny Sunday blasts – a lot of R1 riders are most surprised when a man on a GSX1400 comes past them on a long straight.
Roadster
Roadsters sit right in the middle of the biking rainbow – they’re user-friendly, comfy, fun, practical, quick and handle pretty well. They’ll do pretty much everything thrown at them, even the odd track day. Middleweight roadsters like the Fazer 600 and Hornet 600 are cheap to insure (well, relatively) and offer close-to-sportsbike performance. Others in that class, like the Kawa ZR-7 and CB500, offer less performance but are more comfortable and practical. Larger roadsters are good for wheelies but, with a set of luggage, you can tour too. Handling and brakes on large roadsters are good – they tend to get last year’s sportbike kit, which is nice.
Just ended my day of tuitions. Was riding home when suddenly, the downpour came. Dawned on my rain coat and carried on riding…
I guess it has been more than a year ever since I last rode in the rain this heavy. Visibility was so poor and the inside of my visor became misty too. Had to switch on my hazard lights (Yes, my bike has hazard lights. Not all bikes have, woohoo! =D) and stop by the road shoulder before the mist cleared up and carried on riding.
I don’t really like riding in the rain, because it’s really dangerous, especially in such heavy rain. Even with my rain coat on, the rain seeped in thru my neck area and wetted my clothes. Don’t like the feeling of my clothes and jeans getting soaked, especially when I just washed it!
However, riding in the rain is pretty fun! (I know I sound 变态) I pretty much love riding thru puddles or small floods. I always love seeing how cars splash water up high high while driving thru them at pretty high speed. I still remember when I was a kid and papa had a car (b4 scrapping it in 1995), I’ll get him to drive past these puddles and enjoy seeing the brilliant “waterworks” performed my that Honda Civic. I love doing it while riding too! (But I still prefer it when I’m driving)
Earlier on when the weather was scorching, I was speeding on the expressway as usual, travelling btwn venues for tuition. And while entering the expressway thru a bend, I actually had so much kick I went pretty low and fast while cornering, and it went to the extent of “bua-ing” my slippers on the road. Super 4′s foot peg is pretty high, to touch the road was thrilling. Needless to say, a portion of my slippers was shaved off. I rarely wear slippers, but just didn’t feel like putting on my shoes today for tuition. Perhaps that was good, because if I had worn shoes and “bua-ed” them, I would be more “xim tia”. And also, if I had worn shoes, they would have collected water while I was riding home, and I’ll be damn sad because they will be one more step closer to being destroyed.
I’m blessed man, don’t wear shoes and it rained; wore slippers and “kena bua-ed” but foot suffered no injury… I feel really blessed.
I had 2 accidents on my Phantom (my 1st bike) before. 1 when I beat an amber light at 90km/h but was knocked down by a oncoming truck-cum-trailer; another while filtering left while it was raining… I suffered incredibly minor injuries and my bike was still working fine. Ever since then, no more accidents. I’m damn “heng” that I survived man, damn blessed.
Came home, hungry, forgot breakfast and lunch as usual. Papa was so nice. Heated up some century egg porridge he cooked earlier, added some “ter dou” (pig’s stomach, the only pig’s organ I eat) and added some “you zha kweh” (fried dough sticks) bits in. Blessed or blessed? I came out aft showering and food was ready. Hot hot nice porridge with Papa’s 爱+心思 on a cold cold day makes me warm warm 暖暖。
Papa, thank you. Loves, mel.
