Celebrated my birthday with my family! It’s Papa’s and Mummy’s first visit to Sushi Tei, and they were funny, especially while placing orders and getting plates from the belt!
Celebrating birthdays or special occasions with family is a very 幸福 thing.
Jocelin organised a "BANG Dinner", claiming that we should end this semester with a BANG! So, everyone was in the "plot" except me, and perhaps everyone was well-dressed except me…

But some things weren’t very usual… For eg, Tian Tian asked for the bill so quickly after I finished swallowing my last mouthful of 鱼片米粉, and then some of us disappeared from the table, but what’s more unusual was Ser initiated playing this "I have never" game, before the table was cleared!
So, silly Melvin turned around, and saw a chocolate cake… and Melvin was thinking to himself if anyone’s birthday is around the corner, or if anybody’s birthday has just passed… But if somebody’s birthday is around the corner, how can he not be part of the "plot"? And if all of them are girls, then how come there’re 2+4 candles on the cake?

Wahaha! I’m so happy, this is the first time the clique celebrated my birthday as a whole! And so seldom, perhaps never have I been thrown a Birthday Surprise like that! It’s always holidays that my birthday fell on… Thanks to the YOG for delaying the semester? Nope, I think my BEST friends deserve the thanks!

Felix’s Birthday was yesterday. To celebrate, Papa and Mummy treated us to good food. A new Western Food outlet at the kopi-tiam downstairs. Food was quite good, customer service was good, ambience was so-so.
It is nice to have such a gathering to celebrate each other’s birthday. It would be nicer if the meal has laughter, instead of bickering, as garnish.

Heard it’s a new restaurant from Malaysia. The queue got immensely long after we went in, really long! But food didn’t taste yummy at all, all of us agreed on that.
And finally, some Ice Cream at Swensens to end the game and the day. Since our ultimate aim was Cake, we bought a Ice Cream Cake for Peter!

What a beautiful cake 大嫂 made!
It is always so warm when the family can go out together. Since 2 years back, Papa had suggested to go out as a family for a celebration whenever any of our birthdays arrives. Apart from Chinese New Year, I think this is the only time we get to eat together, go out as a family together. And writing our wishes all on a Birthday card for Papa or Mummy might sound lame, but it’s such gestures that are deeply cherished, that bond us closer on top of going out together.
Today is Mummy’s Birthday! And since it’s still Chinese New Year (the last day in fact), we’ve decided to visit 干妈’s 煮炒 stall at Fernvale, for a Birthday cum New Year meal!
Papa hardly wears shirts. Even for Chinese New Year, he wore a simple Polo-T. But today! He dressed up so charmingly, handsomely. Indeed, Papa 重视 Mummy多过重视新年。And I haven’t seen Papa smiling so beautifully on other occasions. I’m so happy to see them smile.
And the day ended with a beautiful full moon not too far away. Feels so warm.

Little gestures go a long way.
It isn’t in my family to celebrate Mothers’ Day. We used to draw cards for her when we were in Primary school though. Somehow, it was Art & Craft that made me draw that card each year.
I drew a card for my Mum just now. It was so long since I last did one for her. I got Papa, Felix and Melanie to sign on the card too! It wasn’t an easy task asking Melanie to put her signature on that card. She had an intense argument with her in the morning which woke me up when I was asleep actually. Getting Papa and Felix to sign was easy task though.
Papa’s signature doesn’t look as handsome as before le. I almost teared when he was signing because his hands had so much wrinkles compared to before, and the way he held his pen wasn’t as forceful as before le. Even when I’m typing this, tears are trickling in my eyes.
I love Papa.
I passed Mummy the card. She wasn’t in good mood to begin with. I passed to her and smiled. I looked at her and maintained the smile till she smiled. I knew she appreciated that little gesture. I knew that little card brightened up her day.
Sent a SMS to 春花干妈 & Godma Emily too. I knew and am happy that the SMS brightened their day too.
To all Mums, Happy Mothers’ Day. This day is specially dedicated to you.

Jeff had his birthday in the midst of our preparation for exams. Today, we had a post birthday celebration for him!

Once again, 生日快乐！
Today, the 28th, is my mum’s birthday. I’ve never been very close to my parents. On a scale of closeness from 1-10, I would say we’re 6/10. At 12am, I went to mummy and shook her hands and said:
“Mummy, Happy Birthday!”
Mummy was very happy. Felix (my brother), who was busy with his maple game paused and said “Mummy, Happy Birthday” too, we all laughed. I guess a sincere gestures like these has brought the level of closeness to a 7/10. I like that kind of feeling, it’s like “that should be the way man!” kind of feeling.
I remember, 2 years back, I gave bubba (my bestie, Felicia from 1st 3 months of CJC) rocher for her 21st bcos I didn’t prepare anything for her. I was in a rush to a hotel for her party, just ran to a shop, randomly grabbed that and zoomed to the place. I remember bubba said that a present wasn’t really necessary. But I was freaking guilty for getting some stupid rocher for her 21st.
Then last year, I was preparing for my mid-term quizes, so I missed her party and some country club. So I bought a pooh pouch for her, quite random stuff, and another small thing. Thinking back, I’m sure that wasn’t very sincere too. Again, I was guilty.
This year! I didn’t meet up with bubba for her birthday, I didn’t have any gift for her. But 2 years of guilt made me really shameful. So, the night before her birthday, I stood by my phone and when the clock strucked 12, I rang her up and wished her Happy Birthday. I love my bubba. She’s very lovable. This time, we both knew I was sincere, and though there was no present nor meet up, that little gesture went a long way.
This month is a birthday month for many…. 1st was Piglet Eileen, then my dearest Godma Emily, then it’s Bubba, and then it was dear Weili and Jameson, then Baoxin and Jinchao and William, then Mummy… I’m so glad I celebrated with each of them in a special way this time year.
